Today we’re thrilled to announce a significant strategic growth investment from Vista Equity Partners, a leading global investment firm focused exclusively on enterprise software, data, and technology-enabled businesses.
This investment marks another exciting milestone on our 10-year BetterCloud journey.
We created the SaaS management category years ago and have been the clear leader in the space ever since. With this investment, we can continue to solidify our position as the market leader, while pursuing our vision of enabling true zero-touch SaaS operations for IT teams around the world.
Every company, regardless of size, location, or industry, has very real challenges managing and securing their best-of-breed SaaS environment. This investment will allow us to be that single platform that all of those companies rely on. We’ll be able to expand our product functionality and portfolio, expand our geographic reach, and continue to champion the broader SaaSOps community—all while continuing to build our special culture and teams at BetterCloud.
So much has changed in 10 years. We’ve come a long way
When we started BetterCloud back in 2011:
- Most companies used two or three SaaS apps, if that. Today they use a whopping 110 on average.
- Very few IT professionals were even thinking about the challenges best-of-breed SaaS environments would bring. Solving those challenges now makes up almost the entirety of IT’s responsibilities. Modern IT has evolved into managing and securing SaaS apps, as well as the users who use them.
- Our product supported a single SaaS application. We now support 70+, and our customers have built integrations to hundreds more through our API.
- Our small but mighty team members wore every hat. We did anything we could to help our customers. Today, we’re a team of 400 strong with experts in every area of the business. But one thing that hasn’t changed at all is that our customers are still at the center of everything we do.
Over the next 10 years, we’ll continue to define and lead the SaaS management category
This investment allows us to continue to pursue our vision, which means:
1. Accelerating product innovation
In order to solve their biggest SaaSOps challenges, IT leaders need to be equipped with the right knowledge and tools. Today, BetterCloud provides capabilities in three key areas (SaaS application insights, user lifecycle management, and data protection), but these will expand in the future.
To that end, we’ve zeroed in on what matters most to our customers. Our north star for our product is that it’s outcome oriented, insight driven, and automation ready.
Additionally, as the ecosystem of SaaS apps evolves, SaaS usage will continue to rise. Employees will adopt more apps that are specific to their departments, industries, company sizes, and more. Because of that, we will make BetterCloud infinitely extensible and scalable. We will have the ability to easily integrate with any SaaS application with an API.
Given how fragmented the SaaS market is today, it’s never been clearer that IT leaders need a single, centralized place to manage and secure their SaaS environment. We’re building BetterCloud to be that all-in-one platform that every IT team relies on—the next staple of every modern IT stack. Ultimately, we’ll continue to deliver on the promise of zero-touch SaaS management and elevate the role of IT in enterprises around the world.
2. Taking customer experience to the next level
From day one, we were determined to deliver an experience to customers that they wouldn’t get from any other company servicing IT professionals. Today, customer experience is part of our DNA. We’re obsessed with delivering the most value, in every possible way, so that we delight customers in every interaction.
To support customers in the way they want, we’ve invested heavily across the board in customer experience and success. It’s why our teams are world-class experts in SaaS management and the BetterCloud platform. It’s why we’ve created one of the best training and certification programs in the industry, with hundreds of customers already certified. It’s why our support team has a lightning-fast 10-second response time. It’s why we’ve built the industry’s largest and most active community of SaaS professionals—all to help customers solve problems, achieve business objectives, and do their jobs even better.
We’re going to continue to set the bar high in this area. You’ll see us delivering proactive technical support to customers in new ways, providing self-service training on every part of our platform, offering on-demand access to technical resources to build out integrations, and much more.
3. Building a world-class team
Our incredible team is the only way we can achieve all of these goals. Today our company values (Strive to Delight, Humble Yet Hungry, In This Together, and Impact Through Outcomes) underpin everything we do and everyone we hire.
There’s a lot to be proud of over the last 10 years, but what I’m most proud of is the team and culture that we’ve built. It’s not easy. It needs to be done in a deliberate way. You need people who are all driven by the same passion to solve big, complex problems.
This is just the beginning, but we have an exciting road ahead of us. We’re still in the early stages of SaaS adoption. IT’s role is still being elevated within organizations. We still have a long list of use cases we want to solve, product capabilities we want to deliver, and so much more to achieve as a company.
The next 10 years will be 10x the last. We can’t wait to go heads down, execute, and make our vision a reality.
